WILTON, Conn. -- While Wilton sizzles under a scorching July sun, countless kids feverishly await the eighth and final movie of the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” which opens Friday, July 15, at Wilton’s Bow Tie Cinemas. The hot ticket is the sold-out midnight show which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday in two different versions: digital and 3D. Many of Wilton’s Harry Potter fans have been preparing for the event by viewing prior Harry Potter movies and re-reading the earlier novels.

Also scheduled for Friday, July 15, is the Wilton Kiwanis Car Show originally planned for last weekend, but canceled due to rainy weather. Held in the Town Center, near Route 33, this classic and custom car display features music, burgers and hot dogs and is a cool event for the whole family.

When you stop by The Wilton Library to get books for your summer vacation, be sure to notice the beautiful artwork hanging on the walls, part of the library’s 67th Annual Summer Art Show, which features the work of Wilton artists. Ed MacEwen, the library’s art chairman, coordinated the exhibit, which kicked off with a reception on July 8 and will run through Aug. 19. Much of the art is for sale, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the library. Kudos to the following former and current Wilton residents whose artwork is displayed in the show: Lois Alcosser, Donna Atkins, Chet Augustine, Linda Augustine, Laura D’Onofrio, Dawn Dahl, S.
