WILTON, Conn. – A 21-year-old Western Connecticut State University student from Wilton who was struck by a car on the school's Danbury campus Thursday was upgraded from fair to stable condition Saturday, according to officials at Danbury Hospital.

Daniel Fitzpatrick, of 24 Springbrook Lane in Wilton, who lives in the campus dormitory during the school year, was struck and injured after departing a shuttle bus at the Sand Road Bus Stop, according to university police.

Fitzpatrick was crossing University Boulevard near Centennial Hall when he was struck by a vehicle driven by another student, police said.

Police said 22-year-old commuter student Timothy Silva, who lives in New Fairfield, was driving the vehicle that struck Fitzpatrick. Police declined to say whether Silva was issued a summons, and said they could not provide further details. A police dispatcher said the accident is under investigation.
